Adoption Services
Every effort is made to place healthy, adoptable cats and dogs in permanent,
responsible homes. All prospective owners are advised of their responsibility to have the animal they choose
as a companion animal spayed or neutered. We remind all those who adopt an animal that they are making a
commitment to the proper care of the animal for its natural life.
There is a fee for any adoption. Spay or neutering fees, if necessary is included in the
adoption fee.

Adoption Fees
The fees to adopt an animal range from $50.00 to $90.00 depending
on whether the animal is current on all vaccinations and is spayed or neutered**. The fee is $90.00 if your new pet
needs to be vaccinated, de-wormed and neutered. This fee is still a great value because it costs us much more to
care for the animal before adoption. The donations and grants we receive help keep our adoption fees
low.
To help us find the pet you want, please take the time to fill out
our adoption questionnaire and bring it with you to the shelter.
CCHS Adoption Questionnaire
If you have any questions about adopting a companion animal, or to
make an appointment, please call the Shelter at 231-238-8221. Please note that we cannot ship pets.
**State law requires that all animals adopted from shelters be spayed or neutered before
adoption to help reduce the overpopulation in the pet world.
